Aaron Seib serves as the CEO of the National Association for Trusted Exchange. Mr. Seib is passionate about health information exchange and has made the realization of a learning health system his professional life’s ambition since his son was diagnosed with Autism in 2004. Mr. Seib is currently engaged with a number of projects that promise to take the nation one step closer to realizing this ambition.

 

 

Prior to heading up NATE, Mr. Seib worked in a consultative role with the State of California, providing HIE subject matter expertise and policy development support via sub-contracts initially with Cal eConnect and more recently with the State's Division of Health Information Policy and Standards. While working directly with the State, Mr. Seib led the development of the Model Modular Participants Agreement and was instrumental in establishing and launching the California Association of HIEs (CAHIE).

 

 

Prior to these roles, Mr. Seib served as the Interim CEO of the National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC), a public-private partnership that enabled secure and interoperable nationwide health information exchange to advance health and improve healthcare. Working in conjunction with its partners, including the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), NeHC engaged stakeholders in a collaborative and consensus-driven way to realize common goals that lead to transformative change. While at NeHC, Mr. Seib established NeHC’s NHIN University professional development program while continuing to support the NHIN Coordinating Committee as it continued to add participants in 2010.

 

Mr. Seib has more than fifteen years of experience in both the healthcare finance domain and the clinical research domain. Prior to joining NeHC, Mr. Seib worked directly with the ONC as a contractor where he was involved in the implementation processes and operations of the Nationwide Health Information Network during the transition of the exchange from a collection of demonstration projects into a production solution employed by the participants of the exchange.

 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Seib helped to found BloodHound Software, an innovative ASP serving the healthcare payer community by identifying potential over payments in healthcare claims. While with Bloodhound Software in the role of Director of Software Operations, Mr. Seib led the company’s innovative activities, including bringing a SaaS offering to the market in 1999 and the subsequent patenting of an unsupervised artificial intelligence algorithm to identify aberrant provider behavior.

 

Mr. Seib served as Project Director of the National Cancer Institute’s central IRB and held the position of Deputy Project Director as a contractor for the National Cancer Institute’s Clinical Trials Evaluation Program where he was involved in the caBIG program in its earliest iterations.

Before joining NCI, Mr. Seib was the Director of Business Development – Government Contracting for OmniComm Systems, a commercial software vendor offering EDC solutions for clinical trial sponsors.

Mr. Seib was a proponent and actively involved in leveraging the standards originating from the caBIG program and CDISC standards while at OmniComm and led a project that resulted in the contribution of code to the open source caBIG community. Mr. Seib holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science and Information Systems from Pennsylvania State University and has been certified as a Project Manager by the Project Management Institute and a Certified Clinical Data Manager by the Society of Clinical Data Management.
