FTC Releases Agenda for PrivacyCon 2018

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has released its Agenda for the PrivacyCon 2018, which will take place on February 28, 2018. Building on the success of the two previous events, the 2018 PrivacyCon will focus on privacy and security implications of emerging technologies, such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality.

The event will feature presentations by over 20 researchers, and it is organized in four sessions. The first session will cover collection, exfiltration, and leakage of private information. The second session will explore consumer preferences, expectations, and behaviors. The third session will include presentations related to economics, markets, and experiments. The last session will focus on research related to tools and ratings for privacy management.

To encourage the next generation of researchers in privacy and data protection, the PrivacyCon will also include a Student Poster Section, and the opportunity to discuss funding opportunities with representatives from government agencies that fund privacy research.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the Constitution Center conference facility, located at 400 Seventh St, SW, Washington, D.C. The PrivacyCon will also be webcast on the FTC website and live tweeted using the hashtag #PrivacyCon18.
